Llaethliw Solaris (2021)

New

With it's clear pale yellow colour, this wine looks like summer in a glass. On the nose it has fresh green apple aromas coupled with scents of gooseberry, stone fruits and meadow grass. This is followed up on the palate with refreshing flavours of crisp green apple and ripe nectarine. The wine has a nice mineral aspect that is pursued by a generous citrus acidity.

    LLAETHLIW, WELSH QUALITY WINE

The vineyard now consisting of 6500 vines of Solaris, Rondo, Regend and Orion was completed in 2010 and has been disease free without any need for chemical intervention. Our first grapes were picked in October of 2013 and our first 200 bottles of White, Red and Rose arrived in May 2014. The land aquired its organic status early 2016 and our first organic wine was made in 2017. The vineyard was expanded in 2016 and 2017with a further planting of 11500 vines. These consist of Bacchus, Seyval Blanc, Phoenix, Pinot Noir, Rondo and Madeleine Angevine.

    Knockout!

Bought this at random while visiting Mumbles. My first venture into Welsh wine. To say I enjoyed it yesterday is an understatement. The grape variety has clear notes of German origin and is sophisticated and full. Distinguished and elegant in fact. Buy this is you like to savour a silky white wine. If you merely quaff adult lemonade, don't insult it.
