For 60 years this bottle was part of a collection held at Massandra, a winery on the Black Sea built for Czar Nicholas II.
Nose: Fresh and clean nose of sweet orange blossom, and honey, very giving and fruity, grapey, hints of smoky tobacco leaf, lemon tea.
Palate: Full and aromatic, full-bodied in the mouth, with grapey sweet honey, balanced by fresh cooked grapefruit. Mouthfilling as the flavours literally explode in the mouth. Perfectly balanced with orange flavour and walnut aftertaste.

The wineries in Massandra were built during the reign of Czar Nicholas II. During the process, wine caves containing thousands of bottles were constructed beneath the city. This “personal wine cellar” of the Czar contained tens of thousands of bottles. These caves survived the Russian Revolution, both World Wars, the fall of Communism, and Yakov Smirnoff.
In 1990, about 13,000 of these bottles – never before available in the West – were put to auction.
Right now we have just a handful of these legendary bottles available at Mumbles Fine Wines.
