This incomparable and perfectly balanced 1949 Bas vintage Armagnac from the Baron de Sigognac (Vaghi) distillery, a family business known far beyond the borders , comes from the south-west of France, Gascon. Mostly Ugni-Blanc vines are planted here and their exquisite grapes are distilled to make Armagnac of the absolute top class. The Armagnacs from Sigognac are among the best. They smell of aromas of plums, pears, peaches, violets and also the pines of the country.

In contrast to Cognac, Armagnac is only distilled once and then stored in typical black oak barrels for 3 - 20 years. This is where its dark, amber-colored shine develops, as well as the typical aroma of prunes, vanilla, liquorice and much more. As a rule, it has a stronger taste than the cognac and is therefore described as very noble and smooth.
Vintage Armagnac is only allowed to be called Armagnac, which only contains the grapes of one vintage. Even the annual fluid loss, the "Part der Engel" (proportion of angels, La part des ans) is replenished with the fires of the same vintage.
Bas-Armagnac: The content of this Armagnac contains only brandies from this area without blends from other regions. There are three different Armagnac growing areas: Bas Armagnac, Haut-Armagnac and Teneraze. Bas-Armagnac is usually the best area. The top locations of Bas-Armagnac are again called Grand Bas.
