The Hito is an excellent wine from Ribera del Duero demonstrating the classically powerful style of Tempranillo. The wine is made in steel before spending 8 months in French oak for added texture and complexity. The nose is expressive with the varietal aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant with light floral hints and subtle oak character of toast and vanilla. It has great balance and structure with rich fine tannins to balance the vibrant fruit.

Region
The Denominacion de Origen of Ribera del Duero was founded in July 1982 by an organisation of wine producers and growers who were determined to promote the quality of their wines and enforce regulatory standards. Located in the country`s elevated northern plateau, it is an autonomous community within Castilla y Leon. As the name suggests, the region follows the course of the Duero river and includes the areas of Burgos, Valladolid and parts of Segovia. Like Rioja, the region produces wines selected for long ageing and uses the same age categorisation for its products.
Producer
Bodegas Cepa 21 is a boutique winery in Castrillo de Duero, a village in Valladolid in the area known as the Golden Mile. They combine tradition and modernity with a true commitment to enhancing the best characters of their terroir through the Tempranillo variety. Winemaker Jose Moro’s disruptive spirit is a result of his ancestor’s legacy, which motivates the quality styles he creates today. With 50 hectares of their own vineyards on silty sand, clay and limestone at 750-900m above sea level, facing north helping to ensure the fresh complex wines.
