Fifty years ago, Alejandro Fernández and his wife Esperanza Rivera bought a 16th-century winery in Pesquera de Duero and made a commitment to reviving Ribera del Duero's ancient winemaking tradition. Together they produced Tinto Pesquera, the now-iconic winery described as “the ‘Spanish Pétrus” by critic Robert Parker, and were instrumental in establishing these wines on the world stage. Made in a traditional style, these wines remain the standard by which all other Ribera del Duero are measured.
