Region
Castilla y Leon contains its own wine regions in the area inland from the Altlantic coast. Containing a variety of climates, its heart is more continental with hot dry summers and long cold winters. The region of R del Duero translates as `the banks of the Duero`, which flows through Portugal`s Port region. Here the vines grow at altitude, with hot summer days and cool nights, perfect for the vine. The result are truly exciting wines of the highest quality. Rueda has risen to prominence with delicate and crisp wines produced from the Verdejo grape, using modern wine making techniques. Toro has altitude which allows the vines to benefit from warm days and cooler nights which produce blockbusting and bold wines.
Producer
Josep Masachs Llorach, owned vineyards in Vilafranca del Penedès as early as 1920. During this time he was one of the pioneers of the area producing still wines, his son took over his father’s hobby and made it his profession and turned his house, known to everyone as Cal Cabanyes, into his manufacturing center in the 1950s. Nowadays, the fourth generation of the family has arrived with an open and innovative mindset. Under the watchful eye of Joan Masachs and led by Alex Ruíz Masachs – hardworking, curious and creative with extensive experience in enology and global sales – family values have been reinterpreted to transmit them through more environmentally friendly products
