The Tempranillo appears a youthful dark cherry red with violet hues in colour. The nose is aromatic, full of red fruit, especially plum, combined with vanilla and somewhat floral. The palate has excellent structure with fetching raspberry and strawberry fruit, sweet vanilla with cocoa, finishing medium bodied with a little spice and even more wild red fruit aromas.

Tempranillo grapes from the Rioja Alta region, in vineyards close to the village of Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron in the north-west of the region. There are three distinctly different types of soils in the vineyards here: claystone, stony and iron-clayish, providing grapes with plenty of character. About 5% of the blend is made up of the Mazuelo grape variety as is traditional in the region to add colour and structure. The hand-harvested grapes from old vines undergo a traditional fermentation followed by ageing; in oak barrel for a year and bottle for nine months.
