The Viña Eguía Rioja Tempranillo is a cherry red colour with strong intensity. Aged for 6 months in oak the it offers bold red fruit aromas to the nose along with scents of vanilla, coconut, liquorice and oak. The palate is fresh, vibrant, savoury and elegant leaving a pleasant long finish. A great introduction to the Tempranillo wines of Rioja.

The Viña Eguía winery and vineyards were established in 1973 in Elciego and purchased by Bodegas Muriel in 2010. Elciego is a historic village in the Rioja Alavesa, which borders the Spanish “Basque” region, and the language spoken there often includes Basque words, such as “Eguia” which means “truth”. The brand is symbolised with the outstretched hand and the motto “in vino veritas” (the truth and nothing but the truth) - analogous to putting one’s hand on a bible to swear to the truth of what one is saying.
