Clear ripe-berried nose with a touch of dusty barn leather. Thyme-flecked dried mulberry and boysenberry fruit. Pretty intense, the sweetness coiled tight under supple but rustic tannins and a fine cloud of chalky-tasting and textured dustiness over the top. Distinctive, with a sense of place.

Château Montana is a family estate of 30 hectares in Banyuls-dels-Aspres, just South of Perpignan, that was created in the 1890’s and entirely restructured in 1996. The vineyard has been in sustainable farming practices for years and is now certified of “High Environmental Value” for its respect of all environmental aspect of winemaking. The cuvée Dialogue is made of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache Noir - a classic blend - but with an important proportion of Syrah, which is not that usual in this region. The nose shows notes of fresh red fruit and pepper. The palate is very fresh, elegant with fine tannins. The finish brings back a lovely peppery note. An easy-drinking red that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with tapas or a charcuterie platter.
