Deep, crimson colour. Aromas of woodland vegetation, hints of pine resin, forest fruits as well as some floral notes of rock rose (gum cistus). Quite full-bodied, although soft textured, with red fruit flavours and some spice. Good structure and balance, well defined by lively acidity.

The Symingtons have over 100 hectares of organic vineyards in the Douro Superior subregion, the warmest and least steep bit of the region, which makes them the largest organic producers in the Douro. This is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. It has lovely floral aromatics of sweet black cherries and blackberries with some notes of olives and fine green herbs. The palate is really fresh and focused with good tannins and acidity, and lovely supple black fruits, with some tar and olive hints. Very fresh and drinkable, this is a lovely wine, showing brightness that would be so easy to lose to jamminess in this warm region. Tremendous value at this price.
