Intense, garnet colour. This Altano Organic is beautifully scented, with floral and ripe red fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine shows excellent structure and balance and the fruit is fresh and focused. The elegant long finish denotes the balance afforded by the perfect acidity. This wine is made with 100% organically grown grapes from the family’s vineyards.

The Symingtons have over 100 hectares of organic vineyards in the Douro Superior subregion, the warmest and least steep bit of the region, which makes them the largest organic producers in the Douro. This is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. It has lovely floral aromatics of sweet black cherries and blackberries with some notes of olives and fine green herbs. The palate is really fresh and focused with good tannins and acidity, and lovely supple black fruits, with some tar and olive hints. Very fresh and drinkable, this is a lovely wine, showing brightness that would be so easy to lose to jamminess in this warm region. Tremendous value at this price.
