The 1988 was a powerful wine when released, but this theme continues into later life, where the vibrancy of the year’s fruit is shining through and the quality is evident in the glass. It has a relatively youthful appearance and good colour. A very spicy aroma of liquorice and clove that is repeated on the palate with a vibrant dark fruit component. An excellent and wonderful wine that showcases evolution and development, whilst maintaining elegance and freshness.

Musar. A wine that has survived war, commercial wilderness and even comments that it has a ‘weird, briney note to some vintages’. Why? Because it is one of the most interesting, unique and complex wines in the world. Its grapes are grown in the Bekaa valley, the ‘bread basket’ of ancient Rome, and transported over the high coastal range to Serge Hochar, son of the founder Gaston.
