2015 La Grande Année sees Bollinger on fighting form: striking the balance between opulence and elegance like no one else can. It is generous, voluptuous and refined, encapsulating what Bollinger aptly calls “the velvet bubble”. Its backbone of Pinot Noir gives depth and complexity, and will ensure good ageing potential. But it’s worth noting that the house has chosen precisely the right time to release the 2015: it is a sensational glass right, it will not disappoint.

The House of Champagne Bollinger was created in 1829 by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Levieux Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger. Jacques Bollinger’s grandchildren took over the company in 1885 and started to expand the business by purchasing vineyards. The House has been handed down through the generations, maintaining the quality of production throughout. Bollinger champagne is matured in an impressive set of old barrels.
The vineyard is composed of 60% of pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay over 179 hectares of vines. The vines are farmed by a team of growers across 7 separate vineyards.
Over the years, the House of Bollinger has developed a strong brand image. It received the Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1884 and has been featured in James Bond films for decades. In 2020, the House released its Bollinger Special Cuvée 007 Limited edition NV, in celebration of its 40-year anniversary as the ‘Official Champagne of 007’.
Bollinger remains one of the few remaining family-owned champagne houses and remains fiercely independent.
