Gevrey-Chambertin is located to the North of Côte de Nuits. It possesses 26 premiers crus and 8 grands crus. Half of the Premiers Crus surrounds the grands Crus (near Morey Saint-denis). The other half is located to the North in the "Combe" de Lavaux on a calcareous and clayish soil with quite a great deal of marls.
