The 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges Villages from Charles Lachaux, which was vinified with 80% whole bunches, offers up pretty notes of raspberry, orange and rose petal. On the palate, the wine is ample, medium-bodied and fine-grained, with juicy acids, good depth and ripe tannins. This is a pure, elegant Nuits-Saint-Georges.

There are numerous examples of Burgundy domaines where the handover between generations has proven something of an upheaval. Fortunately Arnoux-Lachaux bucks the trend, with father Pascal and son Charles working closely together. They approach vineyard management using organic growing methods, and just as fastidiously in the winery. With Pascal’s influence, they represent the most rapid change in style of any Burgundy domaine, and the wines are now quite pure and elegant, with depth of flavour.
