    Producer Information

A love of wine has been passed on from one Faiveley generation to the next for more than 180 years. The Domaine has always remained in the same family and today Erwan and Eve, the 7th generation of the Faiveley family, are at the helm and are keen to respect the traditions and savoir-faire of the family while looking to the future.

Domaine Faiveley believes that the quality of the wines comes from the fruit. To make sure they are able to get the best fruit and resulting wines, the team has invested in separate winemaking and viticulture teams in the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise, fine-tuned their barrel selection, and built a state-of-the-art winery in Mercurey. Last year, the family completed the renovation of their cellars in the heart of Nuits-St-Georges.

The result is classic Burgundies with wonderful longevity, aromatics and an unique, elegant style. Recognised as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, the Domaine continues to go from strength to strength under Erwan and Eve.

    Vineyards

Ladoix-Serrigny is one of the Côte de Beaune’s oldest winemaking villages. The first Lords of Ladoix were present here as far back as the 13th century. Domaine Faiveley have owned this plot in Ladoix for many years, when it was initially planted with Pinot Noir and a small parcel of Chardonnay vines. Jerome and Erwan soon realised that the site was better suited to Chardonnay and replanted in 2007.

    Exposition: North-East
Soil: Marly limestone, clay, ferruginous oolites
    Grape Variety: Chardonnay

    Surface area: 3 ha 01 a 58 ca (7,19 Acres)
Years the vines were planted: 2007, 2013

    Winemaking

The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. The musts are extracted using a pneumatic press before being settled. Vinification lasts for 4 weeks and takes place mainly in French oak barrels (less than a third of which are new oak) in our cellars at consistent, natural temperatures and hygrometry. The wine is aged in barrels for 12 months during which it is stirred regularly in order to keep the lees in contact with the wine. This results in excellent tension and aromatic complexity combined with a smooth and delicate palate.

    Vintage Information

2018, an extravagant and early ripening vintage with extraordinary harvests. Harvest began on the 27th of August (the earliest since 2003) in the Côte Chalonnaise with Mercurey and « Clos des Cortons Faiveley » Grand Cru. The other Grands Crus were harvested on the 3rd of September. The harvests came to a close on the 15th of September. The vines displayed excellent health conditions, the clusters were dense and perfectly ripe. A very classic vintage that can be enjoyed in its youth and is already drinking beautifully.
