Echezeaux Grand Cru (2018) Domaine Michel Noellat

New

Domaine Michel Noëllat & Fils is one of the legendary names of Vosne Romanee, along with its close neighbour is Domaine Leroy. Yet these wines purposely fly under the radar, mainly because only about 10% of the domaine’s production is exported.  This 2018 is dense and concentrated with black fruit; sweet black currant and bramble. The palate is svelte, decadent but balanced and laser-guided. Extremely impressive and pure. From 60-70 year old vines. Put this one away for a long time.

Heritage of the NOELLAT family, the Estate was founded in the 19th century by Félix NOELLAT. They had two children, Michel, who created his domain with part of the family vines, and Lucette.

Michel NOELLAT (1927-1989) married a very distant cousin of Chambolle: the Estate could have been called NOELLAT-NOELLAT. From this union, four children were born: Jacky, Alain, Eliane, and Jean-Marc.

In 1989, on the death of their father, Alain and Jean-Marc ensured the succession and they created the SCEA Domaine Michel NOELLAT et fils…
