A glorious Grand Cru Chardonnay from Domaine Faiveley. The nose reveals oaky, fruity and floral notes. The palate is concentrated and well-balanced with excellent aromatic persistency. The rich aromas make this Grand Cru enjoyable in its youth although it only develops its full character after a few years of bottle age. An exceptional wine with depth and minerality.

Legend has it that the hill of Corton was once planted only with red grapes and that Charlemagne delighted in these wines. Unfortunately, flowing over the flowered beard of the emperor, this wine left scarlet stains and for his wife, it undermined the royal dignity. Charlemagne therefore had his vines uprooted and replanted with white grapes so that he could continue to taste his wine. The Faiveley family bought this plot in 1874 with the Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru Monopole. The two plots are located next to each other above Ladoix-Serrigny.
The grapes are cut and sorted by hand. The must is extracted using a pneumatic press, then decanted. During 4 weeks, vinification takes place in French oak barrels (including 50-60% new barrels) in our cellars with natural and constant humidity and temperature. Regularly stirred to put the lees back in suspension, the wine is aged in barrels for 18 months. It thus keeps a nice tension and a great aromatic complexity, while offering a delicate and silky mouth.
The nose reveals woody, fruity and floral notes. The concentrated mouth offers a nice balance and an important aromatic persistence. By its aromatic generosity, we can begin to discover this grand cru but it will reveal all its complexity, its potential and its character after a few years of aging. It is an exceptional wine, both mineral and deep.
