Domaine Vincent Dampt Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru (2015)

New

A bright, sherbet-infused nose with green apple peel and a nod to the tropical, then some chalky texture behind. Ripe and quite corporeal on the palate, juicy and voluminous. Fleshy stone fruit sustains the midpalate, with more viscosity and weight than the other two premiers crus.

"With citrus, orchard fruit and a perfect balance of sea-shell minerality and rich creaminess, this Chablis has everything to offer."

Resulting from a family of winegrowers dating back 150 years, Daniel Dampt has joined his domaine with that of his father-in-law’s, Jean Defaix. Daniel Dampt is one of Burgundy’s most celebrated producers, and he produces wines under both his own names and that of Jean Defaix, his father-in-law. The domaine covers 30ha of vines (16 of AOC Chablis and 14ha of 1er Cru, split across five vineyards. The house style produces clean, ultra-pure, wines with bright steely acidity and not so much as a hint of oak. In 2008, Daniel’s sons Sebastien and Vincent created Maison Dampt, a small-scale negociant business that allowed the family to produce Grand Cru wines for the first time, sourcing fruit from Bougros and Les Clos.
