Château Bonneau (2019) Montagne St. Emilion

New

For wine fans around the world, the name Berrouet is intimately linked to the legend of Petrus where Jean-Claude spent over 40 years as winemaker and his son Olivier has taken over that mantle. What is less well known is that the Berrouet family have a small stable of top quality estates on the right bank where these brilliant winemakers quietly continue their ethos to produce exceptional wines.

Jean-Claude and his son Oliver have beautifully captured the essence of Ch Bonneau in this their very first vintage at the estate, and what a great vintage with which to start!  The lively ruby colour of the wine has a transparency and energy that is immediately appealing whilst the elegant palate has the super freshness and purity imparted by the limestone soils found here.  The fruit needs time to mature and put on flesh but in two to three years this will start to sing and will be delicious over the following decade and in the larger formats will reach 2 decades with comfort.  This is the start of a new era for Bonneau and we are sure that it will be a fascinating and rewarding journey to follow.
