Rich, full-bodied with medium strength tannins, this wine is a model of complexity. On tasting it is richly coloured and well-rounded with a creamy texture. Very consistent, it has the potential to age for 15 years. In 2012 Clos de Jacobins regained Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé status.

The estate
A prestigious reference in the Saint-Emilion appellation, the name of this estate, Clos des Jacobins, refers to the Benedictine preacher monks who welcomed pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Since 2004, this Grand Cru Classé has been owned by Thibaut and Magali Decoster.
The vineyard
Clos des Jacobins is a Saint-Emilion wine made from an 8-hectare and single-block vineyard, whose origins date back to the 17th century. Located at the foot of the hill and benefiting from an excellent southern exposure, the vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on soils composed of limestone, clay and limestone scree.
Vinification and ageing
The wine is aged in barrels (75% of which are new).
The blend
Merlot (80%)
Cabernet Franc (18%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (2%).
