Another second wine from this brilliant vintage that tastes more like a grand vin, the 2018 Le Marquis de Calon Segur offers a full-bodied, ripe, incredibly sexy profile that carries terrific amounts of currants, plums, graphite, and leafy herb-like aromas and flavors. A blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 30% new French oak, it’s a head turner that’s drinking spectacularly well right out of the gate.

Located in the most northern part of the Medoc, Chateau Calon-Ségur is a third growth which was owned by the Marquis de Ségur who commissioned the heart on the label to reflect his affection for Calon, even though he owned Lafite and Latour at the time. It is a wonderful wine that age long and gracefully in true St Estephe style.
Le Marquis de Calon Segur is the second wine of the estate. Mainly made with Merlot and aged for 17 months in oak barrels (1/3 new). Generous and juicy aromas of black currant with hints of leather and cedar. Deep and warm on the palate with a velvety texture, silky tannins and a vibrant acidity. Can be enjoyed in its youth.
