Notions of plum preserves, Black Forest cake, red cherry compote and black raspberries with touches of menthol, chocolate box, licorice and tobacco leaf. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features fantastically ripe, velvety tannins and beautiful freshness, lifting the generous, brightly fruited mid-palate and giving bags of energy to the very long-lingering, minerally finish.

Château l’Évangile is one of the oldest properties in Pomerol with a history stretching back as far as 1741. Since 1999, when it was sold to the owners of Château Lafite-Rothschild, the consistency and quality of this estate has increased to another level and it is now producing some of the finest wines in its illustrious history.
2016 was an excellent vintage for Right Bank Bordeaux and this is a superb release composed of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Wonderfully endowed with incredibly rich dark fruits and wonderful savoury depth, it is also incredibly impressive for its effortless balance of perfectly ripe tannins and energetic freshness. A classic modern-day l’Évangile that should age superbly.
