Chateau Caronne Ste Gemme is a Bordeaux that offers amazing value for money. Particularly in an outstanding vintage like 2018, where quality has risen across the board. Indeed, the quality of the vintage has allowed the charming owner, François Nony, to make one of his best wines ever.
It’s received a slew of 90+ scores, including an impressive 92 points from Jane Anson, writing in Decanter.

Cousin of François-Xavier at Grand-Puy-Lacoste, and Bruno at Ducru-Beaucaillou, François' pedigree for making great wine is clear. And the château is well-placed too. While labelled Haut-Médoc, Caronne-Ste-Gemme is a stone’s throw from St-Julien and a neighbour of the second growth Château Gruard-Larose. This year, it doesn’t seem out of place in this company. We love the creamy texture, elegance of fruit, and supreme balance of the 2018 making it easily mistaken for a far loftier appellation.
