The Finest Wines from France
En Remilly is considered the finest vineyard in St-Aubin by many - Olivier has two parcels, one at the top adjacent to Chevalier-Montrachet on the other side of the Mont-Rachet, the other by Chatenière. Confidence and composure are evident this year. Not to be missed!
The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry, citric peel and orange zest at the front palate, quite penetrating in the mouth with a touch of sour lemon on the potent, tensile finish. Alongside the En Remilly, this is one of Olivier Lamy's finest offerings from Saint-Aubin this year. Produced in minute quantities!
Lemon and lime plus some metallic minerality on the slightly rustic nose. Ripe, fat and rich but fresh in the mouth, with generous yellow fruit flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes ripe and long, with lovely sappy lemon and orange notes.
The 2019 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a delightful liquorice-infused citrus fruit. This expands with aeration. The palate is very well defined with a crisp bead of acidity, apricot and quince, quite spicy with ginger and lemongrass towards the persistent finish. Superb.
Taittinger’s flagship blanc de blancs was first produced in 1952 and it’s only made in the best years. The 2008 vintage is a fresh, mineral and focused champagne, pleasantly scented with notes of white flowers, fresh citrus fruits, white peaches and yeasty dough. On the palate the wine has a delicate creamy mouthfeel and shows racy acidity,...
On the nose this champagne has bursts of strawberries, morello cherries and blackcurrants. On the palate it is very expressive with more blackcurrant flavour and a hint of pear. The mid-palate contains a tannin tartness that leads to a magnificent finish that lingers. Ideal for fruit desserts.
Taittinger Prelude, a non-vintage blend of Grand Cru sites, uses around 50% Chardonnay from the Cotes des Blancs and 50% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. This Champagne expresses real finesse and lots of aromatics on the palate, and a lovely honeyed finish.
Deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. Fruit driven with aromas of black cherry and blueberry. Delicate notes of mint, black pepper and liquorice appear when agitated. Good texture on the palate with ripe tannins. Long finish. Full, fresh, dense and silky mouthfeel.
The predominance of Pinot Noir (50%), the touch of 10% of wines produced in oak casks and the prolonged aging on the lees give the power and aromatic richness so typical of Veuve Clicquot Vintage style. Chardonnay (30%) brings the elegance and finesse of a perfectly balanced wine, while a small percentage of Pinot Meunier (20%) rounds out the blend.
