A lieu-dit which neighbours Meix Cadot, this historic site produces one of the purest and most vibrant Rullys around. Domaine Jean-Noel Gagnard is based in Chassange-Montrachet, Burgundy. Jean-Noel’s daughter, Caroline l’Estime took over the estate and has really fine tuned it. Their small team focus on the terroir. Situated at mid-slope on a mix of hard limestone plus clay, this vineyard ripens easily. The 2014 shows a fine, bright purple colour with a beautiful wealth of fruit thereafter on the nose. Deeply floral, mouth-filling, plump, noble and gorgeous.
Delicious nutty character on top of toasty oak, butter, stewed apple fruit and a distinct flint and slate character. Classic burgundy at a fair price in comparison with so many of its stablemates these days.
The steeply terraced slopes of Bievaux have a natural coolness giving this vineyard an excellent freshness, thereby overcoming the warmth of the 2020 summer months. Clear aromas of freshly squeezed lemon and lime, the bright zest of fruit sits comfortably alongside the silky, mid-palate texture and rewarding ripe scented fruit finish.
Clear and brilliant, mineral and floral, fresh and vigorous. Its aromatic expression features notes of bracken and hazelnut. a chardonnay with no cosmetics, with flattering scents of ripe yellow fruit, citrus, and menthol with a subtly toasted savory mouth.
An admirably pure and cool array exhibits distilled notes of green apple, citrus and white floral nuances. There is good mid-palate density to the rich and relatively round flavors that exude both salinity and minerality on the long finale. *Outstanding*
Offering up aromas of nutmeg, pear, crisp yellow apple, fresh bread and smoke, the 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière is medium to full-bodied, layered and chalky, with a bright spine of acidity and impressive structuring extract cloaked in an enveloping core of fruit. This is another serious, structured wine from Lamy.
