Veneto, Italy is a large wine producing region, with the most famous wines being produced around the city of Verona to the east of lake Garda. Here the region’s Soave’s made with Garganega and Trebbiano are king. Whilst further west Bardolino makes highly fruity reds from the Corvina, Roninella and Morlinara varieties. But more recently the region is known for its production of Prosecco. Italy’s favourite fizz is riding the wave of ever more increasing popularity, a style of sparkling is generally dry, fully fizzy – Spumante or Frizzante, lightly fizzy. Predominantly a white style, rose is available and is increasingly common with the best region just north of Venice and the town of Conegliano.
